As an intern or analyst in our university program, students and recent graduates can launch their careers and take on challenging work that matters.

From day one, you'll gain confidence by adding to your skill set, building a network of people who are invested in your success, and joining a company that prioritizes inclusion and impact through our mission. We're home to more and the right first step in your career.

1. Skills Building

Our interns and analysts can choose from opportunities across eleven business areas designed to help further your skills. You'll receive focused training on practical workplace competencies and applications, as well as Freddie Mac business fundamentals. Each one of our program lines is tailored to provide the best possible setup for your growth.

“You go into a brand-new field, and they really challenge you to learn as much as you can,” said Martha Curi Saavedra, a quantitative analytics senior in our Single-Family division and former university program participant.

2. Mentorship

Recent graduates and students  have access to mentorship opportunities and programs beginning their first day. Mentorship allows you to gain insight into ways you can grow and provides you with an accessible person to ask day-to-day questions. However, your mentorship opportunities aren't limited to your assigned mentor. You'll have the opportunity to work with employees at a variety of levels and build on other connections you make.

“I had a good idea of where I wanted my career to go because I had that mentorship and that guide,” said Ehigocho Odihi, an application support professional in our Enterprise Operations and Technology division and former university program participant.

3. Networking

By participating in  formal and informal networking opportunities, you'll grow your career by building a network with people who want you to succeed.

"In the university program, we were put in situations where we were networking and learning from different people and their experiences. It really showed me the importance of meeting with people and talking through your career goals and what you want to get out of your work life," said Anand Blum, a shared info support associate II in our Single-Family division and former university program participant.

4. Inclusive Culture

We operate with the understanding that it's our diverse culture that powers our work. During your time in the university program, you can join and participate in  business resource groups that align with the goals of the business to foster an  inclusive workplace and provide enrichment opportunities for all employees.

"Working for a company that not only values diversity and inclusion but actually encourages and supports those who want to take on diversity- and inclusion-driven actions is really amazing," said Marianna Barroso, a risk and controls professional in our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion division and former university program participant.

5. Mission Focused

At Freddie Mac, you're not just beginning your career. You're creating stability in the housing market while Making Home Possible in communities nationwide. If you're looking for meaning in your work, where your day-to-day makes tomorrow better for families across the United States, Freddie Mac is where you’ll find it.

"I feel like I'm contributing to society and helping people in a way that's very unique and very personal," said Corliss Bailey, a senior financial controller in our Investments & Capital Markets division and former university program participant.
