Monda Webb is a connector by nature and hardwired to serve. A manager on Freddie Mac’s   housing outreach team, she has spent years building and sustaining viable relationships. First as a broadcast journalist, and in mortgage finance as a CRA trainer, emerging markets and outreach manager, realtor and later a fintech liaison to Freddie Mac.

Today, her relationship with Freddie Mac’s   Borrower Help Centers (BHCs) help make affordable homeownership possible for many across the country. As trusted advisors and conduits to communities, her team, led by veteran Freddie Mac’er Stacey Walker, amplifies the BHCs as influencers, thought leaders, educators and helps Freddie Mac fulfill its mission of Making Home Possible.

“Working with the BHCs is a good challenge,” Webb said. “I want to highlight as best I can all their good works and showcase their relentless commitment to community.”

Much of Webb’s work involves generating ideas and setting strategy to support the BHCs, which can include business development, public relations, educational outreach and more.

“Ultimately, I want to help more people purchase homes with the expert counseling from our 15 BHCs,” Webb said. “They are a lynchpin for Freddie Mac’s continued success as a leader in the housing finance ecosystem.”

Following the Mission and Finding the Human Stories

Freddie Mac’s mission of Making Home Possible appeals to Webb because she sees the humanity behind the sentiment.

“Everyone has a right to love where they live, feel safe in their communities, and raise their families with pride and dignity,” she said. “This work helps prepare people to become homeowners and to start the next part of their life’s journey.”

Webb looks for human stories in her personal life, too. She’s an award-winning author, filmmaker and performing artist who is committed to activism and social impact, passions that pair easily with her mission-focused professional work.

At Freddie Mac, Webb feels as though her talents provide value, and she applauds the organization’s extensive internal training efforts for teaching her new ways to work and expanding her skills. Plus, she finds personal validation in making homeownership more accessible and sustainable for all families.

“We are all laser-focused on the mission,” she said. “It’s work that makes me feel good, like I’ve really accomplished something.”
