Understanding Freddie Mac’s Recruitment Process
Freddie Mac is home to opportunity. As you pursue the next step in your career, you can be sure that a job with us means taking on meaningful work, being part of an inclusive and supportive culture, and discovering opportunities to grow and develop.
You may not be sure about what our recruitment process entails, but there’s no need to stress — you’ll do great! Knowing what to expect beforehand can help you navigate the process with confidence.
Here is a breakdown of the steps in our recruitment process, plus some inside tips from our talent team.
Step 1: Apply
Positions are posted throughout the year based on business needs. You can search job openings and filter by title, category and location to discover opportunities that interest you.
Success Tip: Be strategic in your career search. It’s important to apply to positions that align with your goals and interests as well as your skillset and experience. Additionally, since new positions become available on a rolling basis throughout the year, joining the Freddie Mac Talent Community is a great way to stay in the know. You’ll receive customized job alerts, get invitations for virtual and in-person career events, learn about Freddie Mac’s people and culture, and keep up with the latest company information.
Step 2: Phone Interview with a Talent Advisor
After you apply, a Freddie Mac talent advisor will review your resume and application. If they determine you meet the qualifications to move forward, they will reach out to set up an initial phone screen. During the call, the talent advisor will discuss your application with you and outline the recruitment process.
Success Tip: Prior to any interview, be sure to do your research. You will want to be well informed about Freddie Mac’s mission, values and business model. You should also be ready to express what interests you about the role and company and how your experience and skills can contribute.
Step 3: Virtual Interview with a Hiring Leader or Team
If you are selected to move forward, at this stage, you will be invited to meet with hiring leaders, department colleagues and team members through a series of virtual interviews. Your talent advisor will guide you through the specifics of your interview process and scheduling. At this time, you will learn more about the position and will have an opportunity to showcase how you can bring value to the company.
Success Tip: During this portion of the interview process you should be prepared to answer technical questions and share specific examples related to your work history and experience. You will also be asked behavioral interview questions that relate back to our company values and competencies. Once again, do your homework and come prepared! Remember interviewing is a two-way street, so this is also an opportunity for you to discover the impact you can make, ask questions and get clarity from the team. Prepare a list of a few questions in advance that you would like to cover.
Step 4: Candidate Selection and Offer
If you are chosen as the finalist, you will be asked to complete our reference check process. If selected for the position, your talent advisor will extend an offer to join our team!
Success Tip: Your talent advisor will continue to support you through next steps. We want to make sure you feel comfortable and confident about your career decision, so be sure to ask any unanswered questions you may have.
