Propel & Excel

Managed by Freddie Mac’s Leadership Development team, the six-month Propel & Excel program supports the growth and development of aspiring leaders. Each cohort participates in a corporate leadership development and mentoring program which consists of targeted, self-paced curriculum; virtual instructor-led working sessions; and a mentoring element. The program applies principles of neuroscience to help participants improve performance, develop as leaders and drive positive change across organizations.

I…Circle

Sponsored by Freddie Mac’s InspirASIAN  business resource group (BRG),  I...Circle was created to promote personal and professional development, encourage a culture of knowledge sharing, and foster community between mentors and mentees. The program is open to all InspirASIAN members and provides a yearlong mentoring relationship in either a one-on-one or group setting. The groups, called Book Cohorts, comprise one mentor and three to five mentees and provide a supportive forum for those who learn best collaboratively. Mentees set goals together and select a book, TED Talk, article, podcast or other material to guide their learning and growth throughout the year.

Ellevate

The  Women’s Interactive Network (WIN) BRG works with  Ellevate, a global professional women’s network dedicated to building up women through education, inspiration and opportunity. WIN offers three distinct Ellevate memberships — one for young professionals, one for mid-career professionals and one for upper-level managers — that enable all women at Freddie Mac to access valuable career-building resources such as leadership training, interactive webinars, networking events and mentorship “Squads.”

Rising Leaders

In addition to the mentorship programs offered within InspirASIAN and WIN, Freddie Mac offers a BRG specifically focused on professional development. The Rising Leaders BRG offers programming designed to empower early- and mid-career professionals, including an annual Leadership Summit, a  business case competition and other BRG co-sponsored events throughout the year.

Latinos in Transition

Sponsored our Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA) BRG, the  Latinos in Transition (L.I.T.) program is designed to help entry-level employees make the transition from their college years into corporate careers. The L.I.T. program started in 2021 and includes two levels of participants: members, who are early-career professionals looking for development opportunity, and program leaders, who are former members and offer skills and perspective from their time at Freddie Mac. All content is tailored to the Latino and first-generation experience.

Polaris

What is your personal North Star? By the end of the three-month  Polaris program, all participants have a clear answer to that question and a solid foundation on which to grow their careers. The program has since expanded to help participants enhance their professional development across Freddie Mac.

Finance Mentor Program

Freddie Mac’s finance department offers a 12-month mentorship program to connect early career professionals with higher-level mentors to help guide their career paths.  Read Emily’s story to learn more about the program and how it helped her transition from a rotational analyst into a full-time role.

Single-Family Mentoring Program

The Single-Family Mentoring Program is open to employees in our Single-Family acquisitions and portfolio & servicing area. The 12-month program is designed to help participants expand their expertise and professional networks within both the acquisitions and portfolio & servicing divisions through monthly sessions and team building events. These monthly events are designed to help participants tap into the knowledge of others and provide professional development opportunity.

Single-Family College Cohort Mentor Program

All Single-Family college analysts are given a mentor to guide them through the transition of starting their first job. The mentors are volunteers from the prior year’s cohort and serve as resources whom the college analysts can relate to and confide in. About 155 mentees have completed the program since it began four years ago.

Multifamily Coaching Program

Since 2020, more than 250 employees in Freddie Mac’s Multifamily division have participated in its formal career coaching program. The program offers different approaches tailored to the skillsets and goals of its three groups: people leaders, female and minority employees, and other employees interested in maximizing their careers.

I&CM Mentorship Circle Program

Overseen by a  taskforce within our Investments and Capital Market’s (I&CM) division, the I&CM Mentorship Circle Program is a selective six-month program. The program features a curated curriculum for its 10 mentorship circles, which connect two mentors with four mentees. Since its launch in 2023, 40 early-career employees have completed the program, which has helped them grow professionally and access a supportive network of peers and mentors.

Legal Mentorship Program

The Legal Mentorship Program seeks to empower all legal division employees to navigate and carve out their own professional growth path. The 12-month program grows and accelerates an individual's development by helping them tap into the knowledge and experience of an experienced mentor. Participants also benefit by gaining additional insight into Freddie Mac's culture, practices and potential career paths, as well as by assessing their own professional growth opportunities.

Rotational Programs

One great way to gain exposure to Freddie Mac’s many leaders and career paths is by participating in a  rotational program. Freddie Mac offers  university analyst programs with rotational components in its Capital Markets, Enterprise Risk Management and  Finance divisions.
